One of my favourite annual energetic celebrations is upcoming on 8 August - the now widely known Lion's Gate. Then again, I am a Leo (rising + fixed!), so have an inherent resonance with the energies of this time.
You may be aware that the name we now attribute to this observance is a more recent development ie The Lion's Gate, and that historically the Egyptian association was agricultural.
In ancient Egyptian cosmology, the Lion’s Gate signified the dawn of a new year and a period where they set new resolutions for the future, and a new agricultural as well as personal cycle. Interestingly, ancient Egyptians revered the star Sirius (brightest star) and all of their ceremonies and lifestyle revolved around Sirius, as they believed it was the gateway to heaven and wisdom. Hence they started exploiting the Lion’s Gate opening as in those times Sirius was strong and brightest in the sky. They believed this portal occurs when Sun in Leo, earth and Sirius move into complete alignment with the pyramids of Giza (Egypt). It is also associated with the rising of the Nile which provides the nurturing water for crops.
The Lion’s Gate Portal is a cosmic event that occurs every year between July 28 and August 12, and peaks on August 8 (8/8). It takes place when the sun is in Leo, the Earth, Orion's Belt and the star Sirius are lined up, which is activated by the rising of the star Sirius. Since the event happens when the sun is Leo season (the sign known for strength and determination), It acquired the name Lion’s Gate Portal.
Much of the focus on the Lion's Gate is the symbolic cosmic outburst of high-frequency energy or wisdom, that brings us a great opportunity for growth and manifestation. This period helps to facilitate a move into enhanced awareness, insight, wisdom, courage and power that lies beyond our usual perception.
In addition to this generalised overview of the Lion's Gate energies, there are also specific astrological, cosmic and energetic influences each year which have additional impacts on the scope of effect. This year it falls between 2 supermoons providing an extra potency to this entire month, in addition to some particularly significant astrological configurations. It is also the eve of a new 9th wave cycle which coincides beautifully with all the additional (positive!) stimuli.
All in all, it is a true Lionhearted, Diamond time to assist us in harnessing our inner light, power and strength to deal effectively with the challenges ahead!! We will explore all the themes as well as a potentised Diamond process in our teleclass on 8:8.
